As Director of the Snow Eagle Ski School at Gray Rocks Inn, St Jovite, Quebec from 1938 until 1945, Hermann Gadner was one the great early ski instructors who profoundly influenced the development of a cohesive Canadian ski instruction technique.

In addition to his skill as an instructor, he was also one of the greatest racing coaches of his day.  He was both founder and chief coach of the famous Gray Rocks Slalom School responsible for the development and success of such well known competitors as Lucile Wheeler and the Wurtele sisters, Rhoda and Rhona...
