Volunteer

Volunteers are vital to the Canadian Ski Museum/Canadian Ski Hall of Fame, in fact, volunteers founded the Museum in the early 1970s and have continued to play an essential role.

Operating without regular government funding, the Museum relies heavily on the skills and dedication of its volunteers. Volunteers contribute to the Museum in so many ways, helping with governance/management, collections management, research, writing personal experiences/stories for the newsletter, special projects and special events. Each volunteer task helps us develop as a Museum with a national scope and presence.

We're grateful for the community volunteers who help the Museum maintain the collective history of skiing and snowboarding in Canada.

Some of the ongoing needs for volunteer assistance are:

  • Writing your ski-stories for our information files and possible publication in the newsletter
  • Researching and submitting candidate biographical information for consideration in the Canadian Ski Hall of Fame
  • Museum collections work (such as: Accessioning, numbering, & data entry of items into electronic database)
  • Digitally scanning periodicals, newsletters, ski club journals
  • Digitizing archival information contained in various paper-based sources
